My Story

For thirteen years Great Swim has provided tens of thousands of swimmers with exhilarating, challenging and safe open water swimming events. The Great North Swim is UKs biggest & best open water swimming event, and gives participants a chance to immerse themselves in nature in the beautiful surroundings of Lake Windermere. There are a range of distances to suit all ages and abilities including Swim250, Half Mile, 1 Mile, 2 Miles, 5k, 10k and SwimRun.

How I managed to sign up for the 1 mile , I do not know as I saw no other lengths, however I am in training, and swimming 6/7 days currently and up to 35 mins and working my way to 40 mins for the end of March, 50 in April 60mins in May and i then know I will be ready for this challenge. I am a slow steady swimmer and this is a challenge but im over half way there, and doing this in memory of my beloved brother John Rowan who hated the sea but was a fantastic mono waterskier.
